Don Hoi Lot Samut Songkhram - Bangkok Thailand

Located at the very tip of the Mae Khong River in Bangkok Bay, the sandbar known as Don Hoi Lot is a haven for some 18 species of birds, and has the largest population of clam shells in the region along with fantastic mangrove swamps.

Hoi Lot is the Thai name for the Razor Shell Clam, so this is the most common mollusk to be found.

March to May is the most popular time to visit, as the water levels are lower exposing the sandbanks.

It is possible to rent a boat to go out to the sandbar. The boats can take a maximum of 6 people for a rate of around 60 Baht, so it is not expensive.

To get out to the mouth of the bay, which is further, the boat rentals 200 Baht with a maximum of 5 passengers on board.

To get there
